Is Justice Fair and Accessible for Everyone?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The government has established a <strong data-start=\"2893\" data-end=\"2910\">special court<\/strong> to address human trafficking, migrant smuggling, and slavery-related crimes, which is a positive reform. Meanwhile, historically marginalized groups \u2014 particularly <strong data-start=\"2701\" data-end=\"2771\">Afro-Mauritanians, the Haratin community, women<\/strong>\u2014 face systemic discrimination in legal settings.<\/p>\n<p><b>5. Are All Groups Included?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Not everyone in Mauritania has the same chance to be heard. What Can Citizens Do to Protect Their Freedoms?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"4045\" data-end=\"4545\">\n<li data-start=\"4045\" data-end=\"4141\">\n<p data-start=\"4047\" data-end=\"4141\">Attend and organize in local governance forums, community meetings, or safe advocacy spaces.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"4142\" data-end=\"4241\">\n<p data-start=\"4144\" data-end=\"4241\">Support and engage with independent media, including digital platforms and citizen journalists.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"4242\" data-end=\"4348\">\n<p data-start=\"4244\" data-end=\"4348\">Promote the inclusion of marginalized communities \u2014 women, Haratin, Afro-Mauritanians \u2014 in civic life.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"4349\" data-end=\"4446\">\n<p data-start=\"4351\" data-end=\"4446\">Document and report abuses, using trusted local or international civil society organizations.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"4447\" data-end=\"4545\">\n<p data-start=\"4449\" data-end=\"4545\">Push for transparency by demanding open government data and using platforms to highlight issues.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1.
